If you’re like me and thrive under routine, you might be struggling right now. I haven’t left my house for a bit now, and I can tell it’s starting to take a toll on me. Here’s a list of the steps I will try to take. Hopefully, it might help you too. (Disclaimer: some of these activities might not work for you. That is ok!)
- Get dressed as if you are going somewhere. It doesn’t have to be anything fancy, just something aside from the same pjs you’ve been wearing all week.
- To expand on this, wear your glasses/contacts and watch.
- Have regular meals. 3 a day (or 2 if you’re not a breakfast person). If possible, have something of substance.
- Drink water! Set a goal for how much you will consume every day.
- Set goals for the day. You might even want to make a rough schedule with some timelines.
- Have an idea of when you will get up/go to sleep every day. This might require setting an alarm.
- Take your meds, brush your teeth, and wash your face.
- Set some limits for your screentime.
- Journal. This can help you keep in touch with reality. It will also serve as a good record of these events once it has all passed.
- Take a shower regularly.
- Use this time to pursue something creative! You can even try something outside of your usual outlet.
- If you can, get out of your house. You don’t have to go anywhere (and that’s probably not recommended). Just spend a moment outside.
- If that’s not an option, try not to keep yourself confined to one room.
- Keep in touch with those important to you.
- Finally, if you are struggling, please reach out!
